pillow case, dress, martini glasses

We went to the beach today. My son crawled around on the grass (and DIDN'T eat any bugs/leaves/rocks). It was a minor miracle. I mean, he did attempt to eat the local foliage; but he was thwarted by my husband. Who is apparently a better thwarter than me. When my son is alone in my care he seems to eat all sorts of "not food" items. That's our new thing. When we take away a leaf/bug/rock we say: "Not food". I'm afraid he isn't really catching on.

In other news (yep, that's news), this is me in my cowboy boots. I am practically having a love affair with them. I bought them about 7 years ago and it's just been beautiful for us. No spats, no arguing about paint colours, just foot and boot bliss.

Um, yes. So I'm also wearing a dress I may have stolen. I can't be certain. You see, a friend gave me some martini glasses she no longer wanted; and they were wrapped in a pillow case and this dress. So I thought: nice, martini glasses, a dress, and A PILLOWCASE. Score. I will be seeing her tonight (and possibly changing before then just in case she means for me to give the dress back...yes, I'm that good a friend).

This sweater is particularly awesome. I am thinking of having a love affair with it. Well, I think it has moved beyond the "thinking about it" stage. I mean, in my defense, I didn't exactly plan to. It's not like that. It just, well, it just sort of happened! You know how that is. It keeps wanting me to wear it. All the time. It is just so soft and poofy sleeved. Only, I've had a hard time styling it. So I've been wearing it in the evenings over my pajamas while I have a love affair with strawberry ice cream and chocolate sauce (and chocolate chips and mini marshmallows-but you don't really need to know all that).

Okay. I'm done... Oh, right! I almost forgot, I should mention: that's a necklace on my head.

Yep. This is actually really great. Having discovered I can stick necklaces on my head, that is. You see, for some reason I just don't look good in headbands. They make my head look square. Or perhaps they reveal that my head IS square. Either way I look dumb in them. Also: sorry about the cleavage shot, I had to put it in because my hair looked so shiny and pretty in it. Just pretend you're not looking. And if you must look (totally understandable), I'll just pretend not to notice.

Okay, now I'm done. And here's a picture of my son for all you Soren enthusiasts:

sweater, from The Epic Shop: $5
dress, kensie: most likely stolen
cowboy boots, brahma boots: $300
necklace, worn as a headband, V.V.: $1

  7. Oh man, so many things to say!

    1. I was really excited when I read this title because I thought it said "Pillow Case Dress" (yay speed reading) and it made me think of a skirt that I made years ago out of a pillow case. I literally undid the stitching so it was one long tube and shimmied into it.

    2. Love the cowboy boots! I am wearing mine today, we've been together for 6 years.

    3. Love a comfy cardi, turns out I'm wearing mine today too. Except the air con is broken at work so it's not the nice type of cosy right now.

    4. What a fantastic idea with the necklace/headband! I've done belts on the head but never a necklace. Do you mind if I give it a whirl?

  8. I love the necklace as a hair band! the outfit is lovely.
And to clear up the 'carboot' sale thing - It is literally a big sale where people set up stalls in front of their cars in a field/carpark and sell a load of unwanted things from the boot of their cars! You were right!
