I wouldn't say no to a green handmade dress

There seems to be a sort of magic in the air lately. Little swirling tornados of leaves as we cross the street, ripe blackberries; dark grey clouds in deep blue skies...you know the kind, blue grey clouds, thick on the horizon, casting long shadows, saturating the world in jewel tones, the sun bright and deep. Midsummer heaviness hangs in the air. Mornings are crisp and still somewhat cool. Afternoons are long and hot. And evenings, the world sighs as the day drops to its knees.

I love evening. It is my favorite time of day. It really does feel like the day sighs, to me. A sigh of relief. I'm happiest and most awake during the evenings (and into the night. I would be a night owl if I didn't have a little morning bird).

Summer is magic.

And so is this dress. It came in the birthday parcel. And it is, for all appearances, not only homemade, but HAND made. Amazing, hey? And it fits me perfectly. I adore it. You may adore it too.

Now I am off to enjoy this summer evening of loveliness: white wine? Yes please. Strawberries? Don't mind if I do. A handsome man to curl up with? I wouldn't say no to a handsome man to curl up with. *

  1. So that dress is fantastic. Really, really. But then you go and add the cardigan! Get out of town! That is the best thing I've seen all week. No foolin'.

  4. MiLady, you are almost "too dreamy wonderful" to be "really real," ya know!? :)

Seemingly, marvelous melange of part Meryl Streep, Emily Dickinson, & Greta Garbo, w/a hint of Audrey Hepburn! :)

In other words, quite a "fascinating & captivating, charming & amazingly intriquing, & most lovely lass!" "Bon Anniversaire!!!" :)

  12. Aaaaaah...quite a perfect match. I imagine the cardi dreaming of such a dress, like a girl dreming of a handsome man to curl up with. Romance with bangels-in-waiting. Cannot wait for Contessa Coco Balducci to see the divine fit.

  14. green is definitely a good colour for you. especially with the red in your hair. i've always been slightly envious of people who can craft a dress so well. all i do is poke holes in various limbs and then bleed on the fabric...

  15. Fabulous dress, I love these prints you are mixing!

I am currently reading "A year of traveling around the world" (I think this is what its called) by Frances Mayes who wrote Under the tuscan sun. I found this at a used book sale and have been loving this book and the way she describes all the places and food and I have even looked up some spanish recipes I am hoping to try!

  25. Dress so pretty. Pattern mixing on point. Silhouette divine. I cannot form any more coherent thoughts on the actual outfit. I might reserve any comment at all, it really left me speechless but since that does not parlay well over the internet, I must.

And I will recommend the book I always recommend because I love it so much. Very darkly hilarious: The Petty Demon by Sologub. Reaaaad it, please. I have never convinced anyone to do it and as such have had nobody to confirm or deny how great it is.

  26. I am adoring that dress now too. Simply gorgeous! Love the style, the colour, it's amazing. Can't wait to start wearing my dresses!

I am currently reading "love in a cold climate" but life keeps distracting me so I haven't gotten very far into it.
