my husband's watch

Something about wearing my husband's watch. I love it. This hat: same thing. Some articles of clothing seem to be imbued with a certain transforming magic. Do you know what I mean? Those items in your closet that make you feel powerful and confident.

I know that all I need to do is put on my husband's watch (of all things, I know!) and I feel: vibrant, daring, dramatic, alive. I also feel this way about some of my perfumes, jewelery, heels...my sunnies. For me, a lot of it has to do with the memories certain clothing, accessories, and perfumes, evoke. Though, sometimes, a dress just fits that well. What about you? Do you have any clothing or accessories that bring out the YOU in you?

  1. Haha, I love the pic of you on the school stairs. It totally reminds me of Degrassi Jr High. (I mean that in a good way!)
I also love that you wear M's watch. Good thing he has skinny wrists! I feel empowered when I wear heels, especially because I can't wear them very often.

  3. Oh you look DARLING in that hat--just super duper cute!
I feel like me in early 90s grunge style, I think. I like the long skirts/dresses..preferably black with a floral pattern, and my scuffed up lace-up granny boots. I was wearing a long floral black dress in this style when my then future husband decided that I was hot, lol :) So, hey..I guess that sealed it!

  5. I love that crochet cardi very much. I have several crocheted and pointelle cardigans now and they are my favorite thing. I'd wear them every day if I could.

  6. Look at that necklace! OK, I love the hat and watch. Absolutely. I love raiding my husband's wardrobe too. There's something about it that makes it magical, you're right.
I'm with Tracy, I totally feel best in grunge/90's clothes. There's a certain strut that you get from Doc Martens that cannot be recreated.

  9. This is such a cute outfit! You look like such a lady (not that you don't always look lovely). My favorite part is the socks, they're so cute and the pink just pops.

For me wearing a pretty dress or skirt makes me feel good about myself because I feel confident. Also, wearing my big sunglasses makes me feel powerful. Oh, and heels! I love the sound they make when I walk.

  12. i am in loooooove with that pic of you on the stairs. you look so happy and sweet :) and you know, those wide leg jeans of mine, just make me feel fabulous. i don't know what it is about them, but when i put them on, i feel sexy and pretty and like i can conquer the world! ha! maybe not that far but i do love them. even when i'm just wearing a t-shirt with those jeans, i just feel great. isn't it funny how one particular piece of clothing can do that? i mean, that could change next week but there's always that one thing that makes you feel amazing.

  13. I never told you how much I liked your new do. I know you cut and dyed it AGES ago, but I just wanted to formally tell you that it is super rockin and very hot. A great look. and when you pair it with pink lips, and sock, then a cross between super femme and ultra masculine, I totally freak. Its perfect. Mod and rockabilly and ladylike and boyish all wrapped up in one amazingly graceful, genuine woman package. I have appreciated your remarks on my blog so much. My readers have too. One named you specifically as being very wise and helping her through your comment alone. So thank you for continually sharing your wit and wisdom here at your blog and on others as well. I do hope you loved those pants and look forward to getting yours as well! You are a beautiful woman miss furnellie.

  17. Love the look. The socks add such a pop of color. My shoes are usually the items that bring out those feelings in me. Heels give me that confidence, boots make me feel all warm and cozy. And I always remember when and where I bought them and where I have worn them. :)
