a kimberellie public service announcement

Hi.  It's me.  KIM BER ELL IE!!!! (say it like this: KIM brrrrr ELLE eeeeee!).  I like how that rhymes.  I also really like staring at my boots: mmmm....boots.  I just recently had these boots resoled.  It was cheap (15 bucks).  And I want to recomend that you do this too: resole your shoes/boots.  It's much less expensive than buying a new pair.
Wait a minute: that's not what I wanted to talk about at all.  Pray tell then, what DO you want to talk about Miss Furnellie?  This: I'm off.  Off the internet that is.  For a week.  A WEEK.  Seriously, no net.  Okay, well, I will have net, and I may even (though not for sures kittens) check my email.  But other than that: nope.  No scheduled posts either.  Yes, it's going to be a long week for anyone who needs a Kimberellie fix (really just my husband and son; but they have me in real life.  So they should be fine).
The thing is: I only have one life.  And I have been asking myself: is this what I want to do with it?  And by one life, I mean three hours of free time a day (NAP TIME!) to do with what I want.  And usually I spend it bloging (and watching SATC I confess).  But I'm going to try something different for a week.  I have some great little ideas for illustrations (ink and watercolour, fun stuff) flitting through my head lately.  And I think I would like to put brush to paper and get some work done.  I'm thinking maybe an Etsy shop might be in my future.  Who knows.  We'll see.
But it will probably interfere with blogging.  The thing is (sheesh I say that a lot), but the thing IS: I need to do something creative.  And lately this has been that something.  But I think I want something more.  Not that I am going to quite blogging, PERISH THE THOUGHT.  But I might cut down to two posts a week.
And that's it kittens. That's my public service announcement.  So I will see you all next Tuesday.  And if I don't have some art work to show for it: you can berate me with capital letters and run-on sentences.

  2. Fair enough chicken - blogging takes up loads of time and if you only have a limited amount of free time (and who doean't) you want to make sure you are getting the most out of it you can.

And may I just say I LOVE YOUR TRENCH DRESS.

  3. I love the sleeveless trench!
I totally get what you mean about the spare time issue! I totally need to keep my creative juices flowing by making things, not reading and typing things..but soooo much time goes into blogging...now I just sneak in a few minutes here and there during the day...and then go crazy being creative during nap time.
I also have it good when Brody gets home from work...sometimes I'll tell him I'm going downstairs to be creative...put up the baby gate at the top of the stairs so Vyla doesn't join me...and then I can go crazy with no baby!!

I totally think you should start an Etsy shop...I remember the paintings you showed awhile ago...and you are quite talented!!

  5. Ooh the dress is deliciously unusual. I love it teamed up with the silk scarf and gloves - tres chic.

Enjoy your week off. Blogging takes up a surprising amount of time (took me hours to catch up on comments after just two days away!) so I'm not surprised you're in need of a break.

  10. My Dear KIM BER ELL IE!!!!
When did I meet you? June 6th of this year. You were the first blog I ever read other than Post Secret. (which I never realized was a blog.) I found it because someone in my writing class said they were planning to write a story about one of the secrets.
Your blog led me to someone and then someone else and now I have about 15 people all over the world I need to check in on every day. I have spent countless hours following their lives, being envious of either their writing skills, their life-style or their snappy outfits. Sadly I have nothing to show for it other than...dare I say, "Snappier Outfits."
Wait a minute. Was I not going to write my own damn book? You were the lid on a tube of Pringles my Dear. I have come to the bottom. I have loved every bite and there have been many days when you have mirrored my thoughts and I have been inspired to write, but hell I had all those other blogs to read I never did get round to it.
I will visit you in my thoughts and heart.
    Much Love,
    Lee

  11. Awesome, awesome trench dress! I hope you have a great week! I appreciate your honesty about doing everything you want to do, and running out of time. Sometimes I see people who seem to "do it all" and I wonder how they do it! I know that when my job starts to get more stressful (which it will soon) I will not be able to devote as much time to blogging.
On another note, thanks for all the book feedback--I'm definitely going to have to read the Heaven series now, and compare it to The Glass Castle.

Enjoy your time off the net. Oh man it's nice to get off the grid. It's hard to get back on it after time off.

  21. I love the boots. I'm thinking of making my own Etsy store too. I look at it everyday. Sometimes, ,I think I am so hooked up online too, good thing RC would always remind me if I'm doing it too much.

  22. oh i totally love this!!! and i hope you get a lot of creative stuff done. i remember when my son was little, i felt like there wasn't anything in my day that was for me (except for when i went running). it's hard to carve out some time just for 'mom.' and i think you need something that's all yours because if you have an outlet and something you look forward to doing, you'll be happier and have more to give back to your family.
